ACADEMY OBJECTIVES

The Academy has been setup with the following objectives in mind;

Participant Aims

- To develop rounded climbers with the knowledge and skills to continue the sport beyond the wall environment.

- To give access to structured certification in our sport.

- To promote life-long participation in climbing.

- To promote short and long term participant development through safe, enjoyable and effective sessions

Coaching Aims

- To deliver sessions that have an informed and decisive grounding in relevant physiological and psychological approaches.

- To promote short and long term participant development through safe, enjoyable and effective sessions

- To provide a structured approach towards coaching the fundamental skills

- To develop an open coaching approach that can develop and evolve through shared practice.

- To strive for best practice within this discipline.

Staff are members of the

OPEN CLIMBING

All regular attending climbers are eligle to join the Academy. Express an interest with coaches, turn up and get involved. Coaches will be on hand to help you develop at a pace that suits.

 

PERFORMANCE SQUAD

 

Our squad athletes take part in regional competitions and are eligible for paraclimbing competitions. Climbers are selected due to the level of competition attended. At this level, competitors are required to lead routes in a ground-up, often on-sight, style. To be able to effectively learn and safely compete at this level the following guidelines are used by coaches when choosing athletes.

 

1. The Athlete code of conduct must be adhered to.

2. A commitment must be made to personal training as this is an athlete centred programme.

5. Parental consent to lead climbing must be gained in order to practice and compete in this discipline.
